The Jr Colonials Mite A hockey team won the Christmas tournament held by the Stamford Youth Hockey Association at the Terry Conners Rink in Stamford. The Mites handily won all three qualifying games against Greater Bridgeportâs B team, the host Stamford Sharks A team and the White Plains Plainsmen, scoring an impressive 23 goals against and not allowing a goal into their own net. In the final on Sunday, the Jr Colonial Mites played Stamford for a second time. The game started tensely, with the teams tied 2-2 in the second period before the Jr Colonials skated away with a 7-2 triumph. Ethan Cox scored the eventual winning goal and fellow Newtowners Devin Marsh and Jack Hanley contributed in the tourney win. Cox received the championship game MVP award.
