Alan Peter Will Sr, 63, of Bridgewater, died January 29, following a short illness.

He was the third child of Constance (Miller) and John H. Will Jr of Brookfield. His parents had already welcomed their first son, John III, and a daughter, Kerry. Following Alan’s arrival, the Wills later welcomed two more sons, David and Peter.

Alan graduated from Immaculate High School in Danbury. He went to work directly from school, starting first with The Tractor Barn in Brookfield, owned by his parents. Alan had been working with and for his parents since grade school.

Alan and his brother John co-owned and operated The Saw Mill, a chainsaw dealership in Brookfield. He also worked at Durant’s Rentals; for Paul Trudeau & Sons, a John Deere dealer; Highlift Inc., a rental company; Design Maintenance of Connecticut, a landscaping company; Scott’s Landscape; and for the past decade-plus at Newtown Power Equipment.

Alan was known by many near and far as always being willing to help others. Over the years, at all hours, he would respond to calls from fellow Bridgewater residents. He ran errands, fixed tractors, plowed snow — even for strangers, at the last minute, when he already had a full schedule of his own — and even unknowingly saved the final uncut copy of The Graduate one afternoon after his boss, Mike Nichols (Nichols Arabian Horse Farm), asked him “go grab a film from the farm, someone’s going to pick it up for me tonight.”

He was altruistic at heart. He not only always gave of himself during his life, Alan’s final gift to the world was the donation of organs to save others.

Until recently, Alan enjoyed spending summer evenings boating on Candlewood Lake. He also loved jokes, and always had one ready to share.

Alan was predeceased by his parents and his brother Peter.

When Peter was alive, Friday nights were for Peter and Alan. The two would go out for dinner every week, and Peter’s favorite order was always a cheeseburger. During the course of the meal, Peter would also enjoy two beers.

Their family is convinced Alan and Peter are enjoying dinners together again, with Alan buying and Peter ordering two beers and a cheeseburger.

Alan is survived by his sons Alan Will Jr (Sherri) of New Milford and Scott Will (John), also of New Milford; brothers John H. Will III (Shannon) of Sandy Hook and David Will of Danbury; sister Kerry Will Morse of Arizona; nieces Katherine Will, Megan Sherwood and Amy Green; grandson Ben Komarowsky; his girlfriend of eight years, Darlene Siepmann; and his ex-wife, Lisa Will.

Services will be private at the family’s request.

In lieu of flowers, it would have been Alan’s wish that donations in his memory be made to Ability Beyond Disability (Ability Beyond-Connecticut, 4 Berkshire Boulevard, Bethel CT 06801 or https://abilitybeyond.org/. The organization meant a lot to him because it played such a significant role in improving the life of his brother Peter.

Hatah!
