Four people were sent to the hospital Sunday afternoon following a serious crash on Botsford Hill Road that closed the road for nearly four hours.

Newtown Police are hoping witnesses will contact NPD Officer Benjamin Mulhall at 203-426-5841.

According to the police report, a 2010 Chrysler Town & Country minivan was traveling south on Botsford Hill Road, just south of that road’s intersection with Button Shop Road, around 3:26 pm February 2. Concurrently, a 2018 Chevy Equinox was traveling north on Botsford Hill Road. The front end of the Chrysler struck the front end of the Equinox, according to the report, causing front driver side disabling damage to both vehicles.

Local police officers, Botsford Fire Rescue and Newtown Volunteer Ambulance Corps all responded to the crash. Three ambulances responded. Injuries reportedly ranged from minor to significant.

A civilian nurse and paramedic were also reportedly on scene before the dispatched first responders were on scene, according to a Botsford Fire Rescue Facebook post.

The 28-year-old driver of the Equinox and the 67-year-old driver of the Town & Country, both male, were transported to the hospital for suspected serious injury. Two passengers were also transported. Details about the passengers were unavailable.

Botsford Hill Road remained closed between its intersections with Button Shop and Little Brook roads until approximately 7 pm. The accident remains under investigation.
