Erica Leigh Alterio, age 33, of Newtown, passed away surrounded by her family on Tuesday, January 14, after a sudden illness.

She was born on February 7, 1991, in Bridgeport to Lino Magliocco and Lori Sikorski-Magliocco. Erica resided in Shelton before moving to Newtown in 2017. She was a graduate of Central Connecticut State University and Fairfield University and went on to become a school librarian at the Western Connecticut Academy of International Studies in Danbury, where she left a lasting impact on not only her students but all her fellow staff members who became her AIS family.

Erica was predeceased by her maternal grandfather John Sikorski of Newtown, and her paternal grandparents Cesare and Bettina Magliocco of Bridgeport.

She is survived by her devoted husband of seven years, Michael Douglas Alterio; her beloved daughter Anastasia Rose Alterio; parents Lino and Lori Magliocco; her sister Stephanie Miller and her husband Kevin Miller, and her niece Bria and nephew Kevin Jr, all of Watertown; her grandmother Joanne Sikorski of Newtown; and countless aunts, uncles and cousins.

Calling hours will be Monday, January 20, at Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street in Newtown, from 4-7 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 am Tuesday, January 21, at Saint Rose of Lima Church, 46 Church Hill Road in Newtown.

Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery also in Newtown.
