This year's Christmas cover, unveiled late last week with the publication of our December 20, 2024 print edition, is the work of artist Michelle Rosenthal. It is a watercolor painting called “Newtown’s Winter Steeples.”

A native of Newtown, Michelle specializes in watercolors and jewelry design. In 2018, she combined these and established her own business in town: Michelle Renee Studio.

As a retired history teacher, historic homes and landmarks have always been of interest to her. Many of them have become subjects of her watercolor paintings, especially the homes and views surrounding Newtown’s historic Main Street. Having grown up in Newtown, these places are very dear to the artist. Her hometown, loving family, and the very talented ladies she paints with are a true inspiration, according to the artist.
