Angels Do Walk Among Us
To the Editor:
I am writing to express my sincere gratitude to the entire team of Sandy Hook Fire Department. My name is Maria Sadlier and I was part of this great community of Newtown and served on Newtown Ambulance for 20 years. I received a telephone call from my brother-in-law asking if we knew anyone who could bring a smile to his daughter’s family during these hard times. His son-in-law is diagnosed with cancer and due to his extreme weakness he is unable to participate in their normal holiday traditions.
I took the liberty of reaching out to EMS Captain Karin Halstead of the Sandy Hook Fire Department asking if she knew anyone who could bring some happiness to the entire family.
Within an hour EMS Captain Halstead had arranged to bring a firetruck with Santa and his helpers to spread Christmas cheer. The fact that one phone call to one special person could bring smiles and happiness to a much-needed family, EMS Captain Halstead went above and beyond in fulfilling a Christmas wish, this goes to show all of us that angels do walk among us.
On behalf of myself and the family, I want EMS Captain Halstead and Sandy Hook Fire Department to know we are grateful and deeply appreciate of making this Christmas a little brighter for a family in need of some happiness.
With deepest gratitude, stay safe and have a Merry Christmas and a Happy and Healthy New Year.
Maria Sadlier and Family
