On Sunday, October 27 residents gathered at Newtown Community Center for the annual Trunk or Treat event. Hundreds of children and adults attended. One person who decorated her trunk said that she passed out 575 goodie bags to children.

Senator Tony Hwang and State Representatives Marty Foncello and Mitch Bolinsky also attended the event and handed out candy and treats to all the kids.

There was a wide range of ages there, as young as two weeks old to parents to grandparents, but all had a great time trick-or-treating throughout the parking lot ahead of Halloween.

Chief Anthony Capozziello of Sandy Hook Volunteer Fire and Rescue came to the event, too, with his family and dog, to partake of the festivities.

Some of the lovely costumes featured were characters from Toy Story such as Mr Potato Head, Woody, Jessie, Buzz Lightyear, and of course, an alien from the claw machine. There was Alice from Alice in Wonderland and the Cheshire Cat, a family of skeletons, a dinosaur, and three witches. There were a few pirates and princesses in the crowd, too.

Even the crew from Oz stopped by to hand out candy.

Hundreds of people came to celebrate Halloween a little early at the community center.

A mom yelled from the crowd, “When your seven-year-old says, ‘Mom, will you please dress up with me for Halloween?’ what else can you do?!” as she and her son are seen in skeleton dinosaur costumes.
