Supports Embree Ku

To The Editor:

I’ve been out knocking on Newtown doors for several weeks now, reminding people to vote, and informing them about early voting, (which began today at the Municipal Center at Fairfield Hills).

This past week I went out with Michelle Embree Ku, who is running for State Representative for the 106th district against the incumbent, Mitch Bolinsky. I don’t know Mitch well, but what I do know scares me. For one thing, he doesn’t believe in climate change and that’s enough to disqualify him in my book. With what’s been happening in this country from more intense and more frequent hurricanes and flooding on the east coast to raging wildfires and severe drought in the west, it should scare everyone.

I didn’t know Michelle well either before walking around town with her and listening to her speak individually to the people of Newtown. I was so impressed with her compassion, her honesty, and most especially her knowledge of our town and how it works. And she not only believes in climate change, a green Newtown is central to her platform.

Michelle is not your typical politician. She is a PhD and a scientist. She has lived in Newtown for over 15 years with her husband and 3 kids. She has served on the Board of Education (4 years as its chair), the Legislative Council, and she is now a Selectperson. I don’t know many people who have that depth of inside knowledge of how Newtown works.

I am convinced that Michelle is the right person to represent us in Hartford. She will fight for our kids, she will fight for our seniors, she will fight for all of us, no matter what party we belong to and whether we voted for her. She is the real deal.

Please join me and vote for Michelle Embree Ku. She will make you proud that you did.
