Struck Sign, Wall

Newtown Police report Nicholas LoBuono, 19, of Trumbull, operating a 2004 Chevrolet Tahoe, was traveling westbound on Berkshire Road at 9:52 am October 2. While negotiating a left-hand curve at Paugussett Road, LoBuono’s vehicle went off the roadway, striking a stop sign and then a rock wall. The vehicle continued across a driveway, coming to rest on the end off the property.

LoBuono reported minor injuries but declined transport. The vehicle was towed.

LoBuono was issued a written warning for traveling unreasonably fast.

Highlander Hits Nautilus

Newtown Police report Richard Jones, 82, of Bridgewater, operating a 2020 Toyota Highlander, was traveling north on South Main Street approaching the intersection with Botsford Hill Road, at 2:42 pm October 3. He was behind a 2022 Lincoln Nautilus operated by Michael Petersen, 64, of New Milford, who was stopped at the intersection. Jones rear-ended Petersen’s vehicle.

No injuries were reported. Neither vehicle was towed.

Jones received a verbal warning for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart.

Hit Deer On Sugar Street

Newtown Police report Rocco Bonanducci, 82, of Newtown, operating a 2007 Honda Accord, was traveling eastbound on Sugar Street at 8:46 pm October 5. A deer entered the roadway and Bonanducci said he could not avoid hitting it. The deer was found deceased on Sugar Street.

Bonanducci was not injured. The vehicle was not towed.

No enforcement action was taken.

Three Car Collision

Newtown Police report Kaitlyn DeLorenzo, 20, of Sandy Hook, operating a 2013 Subaru Legacy, was traveling eastbound on Berkshire Road at 7:59 am October 8. She was traveling behind a 2016 Subaru Outback operated by Stephen Singlak, 16, of Newtown; who in turn was traveling behind a 2025 Subaru Outback operated by Kimberly Chabot-Dumoulin, 57, of Newtown. Chabot-Dumoulin came to a stop in the eastbound travel lane for stopped traffic, and Singlak came to a stop behind her. DeLorenzo did not stop in time and rear-ended Singlak’s vehicle, which was pushed forward into Chabot-Dumoulin’s vehicle.

No injuries were reported. DeLorenzo’s and Singlak’s vehicles were towed.

DeLorenzo was issued an infraction for traveling an unreasonable distance apart.

Police Investigating Hit And Run

Newtown Police report an unknown vehicle was traveling westbound on Platts Hill Road in the area of Palestine Road sometime at approximately 1:35 pm October 8. A resident’s Ring doorbell caught a silver sedan of unknown make and model with a Connecticut classic registration plate strike a stop sign, causing functional damage.

A criminal investigation is pending.

Collision In Intersection

Newtown Police report Fatima Pacheco, 22, of Bridgeport, operating a 2021 Jeep Compass, was attempting to exit Ricci’s Plaza at 8:36 am October 9. Joseph Robertson, 37, of Dover, Vt., operating a 2007 Chevrolet Colorado, was traveling northbound on South Main Street. Pacheco’s vehicle struck the left side of Robertson’s vehicle.

No injuries were reported. Robertson’s vehicle was towed.

Pacheco was issued an infraction for failure to grant right of way at a private road or driveway. Robertson was issued a verbal warning for illegal operation of a motor vehicle without minimum insurance.

Probation Violation Charge

Newtown Police report that David Kreshpan Jr turned himself in on a PRAWN warrant at 12:08 pm October 10.

He was arrested and charged with violation of probation.

He was released from custody on a $10,000 bond with a court date of October 28 in Danbury Superior Court.

Unsafe Movement

Newtown Police report Garrett Hydeck, 35, of Newtown, operating a 2008 Chrysler Town & Country, was traveling westbound on Mile Hill Road at 6:22 pm October 10. He was traveling ahead of a 2023 Chevrolet Express operated by Eddie Parker, 35, of Newtown. Both vehicles stopped at a traffic control light at the intersection of Mile Hill Road and South Main Street. The light turned green and Parker attempted to accelerate away, but due to the steep hill his vehicle rolled backwards and struck Hydeck’s vehicle.

No injuries were reported. Neither vehicle was towed.

Hydeck was issued a verbal warning for following too close. Parker was issued a verbal warning for unsafe movement.

Pedestrian Hit, Injured

Newtown Police report Jennifer Hubbard, 51, of Sandy Hook, operating a 2012 Ford Econoline, was parked in front of Edmond Town Hall at 1:02 pm October 13. While attempting to back from the space, Hubbard struck a pedestrian, Nicole Roemer, 42, of New Fairfield.

Roemer sustained injuries to her left ankle. She was transported to Danbury Hospital.

The incident is still under investigation.
