Fall Book Donation Day Set For October 27 At Booth Library
Fall Book Donation Day, sponsored by the Friends of the C.H. Booth Library, is set for Sunday, October 27, rain, snow or shine from noon to 5 pm in the rear parking lot of C.H. Booth Library, 25 Main Street in Newtown.
Volunteers will be on hand to help you unload your vehicle and to provide tax receipts.
In addition to new and gently-used books, the Friends welcomes good-condition DVDs, CDs and video games in their cases, complete jigsaw puzzles and LPs. Books of antiquarian interest are also appreciated.
Those planning to donate should note the Friends cannot accept multi-volume encyclopedias, Time-Life Series and Reader’s Digest books, VHS or cassette tapes, or outdated reference books, text books, travel guides or board games. Magazines and free publications are also discouraged.
Donated items enable the Friends to raise money for Booth Library at the Holiday Sale, scheduled this year for December 7-8 in the library’s downstairs meeting room; the huge annual summer book sale, returning next summer July 11-15 to Reed Intermediate School; and the Friends-operated Little Book Store, open year-round near the main circulation desk on the second floor of the library.
Donation Day Coordinator Denise Kaiser says Donation Days are “great de-cluttering opportunities.”
Kaiser suggests readers put their items “to work for a worthy cause.
“Just pack them in bags or boxes you don’t need back, load your vehicle, and our volunteers will unload them for you in the parking lot,” she said.
Those unable to make it to the library October 27 are invited to drop off donations at their convenience in the Friends’ Donation Room opposite the elevator on the Booth Library’s first floor anytime the library is open.
