It is with heavy heart that we announce the passing of Linda Nevins Trentacosta, who died at UC Memorial Hospital in Colorado Springs, Colorado, while vising the state.

Linda was the wife of John F. Trentacosta for 47 years. She was the beloved daughter of the late Elizabeth Siegel Nevins Mattei and John Nevins. She was also predeceased by her step-father Ceasar Mattei.

Linda was born on June 28, 1953, in Queens, N.Y., and was raised in the Richmond Hills section. She resided with her husband John in the Chatfield Farms Community of Beacon Falls.

Linda is also survived by her two sons John Jr of Cheshire, his wife Melinda (Mindy) and her grandsons, Vincenzo (age 3) and Dominic (2 months), as well as her son Brian of Prospect, his wife Krista, and her granddaughter Mia (age 7).

Linda’s entire adult life was devoted to supporting her husband John, and raising their two sons John Jr and Brian. She was employed for 23 years at Holy Infant Roman Catholic Church in her hometown of Orange. Linda was highly organized and efficient and enjoyed planning various social and corporate events, holidays and vacations. While residing in Sandy Hook, Linda volunteered for Regional Hospice and Homecare, and was on the Board of Newtown Scholarship, an organization to which she devoted several years.

For the past six years Linda and John wintered in Estero, Fla., where she enjoyed the warmth and sunshine. Linda was a strong, determined woman and was thriving after successfully surviving a bilateral lung transplant in 2022. Linda also enjoyed playing bocce both in Florida and at Chatfield Farms. Above everything else, Linda adored her three grandchildren and had looked forward to spoiling them in her retirement. She always had an inventory of gifts, games, books and clothes, which she would wrap and give to them during their frequent visits.

Linda’s life will be remembered at a Christian Mass and Celebration of Life at Holy Infant Church on Race Brook Road in Orange at 11 am Saturday, October 26. Her interment at All Saints Cemetery in North Haven will be private, and at a later date.
