Endorsing Congresswoman Jahana Hayes
To the Editor:
I am writing to wholeheartedly endorse Congresswoman Jahana Hayes for re-election. Her tireless dedication to Connecticut and its people is evident in her impressive legislative record and her unwavering commitment to making meaningful change.
Congresswoman Hayes was instrumental in drafting provisions in the Inflation Reduction Act, which marked the most significant federal investment in history to counter climate change and lower prescription drug costs. Her leadership on this issue, as well as her earlier work on the American Rescue Plan, demonstrates her deep understanding of the challenges facing everyday Americans.
On reproductive rights, Congresswoman Hayes has been a vocal advocate for protecting women’s autonomy. She presided over House debates on vital legislation like the Women’s Health Protection Act and the Ensuring Abortion Access Act, both of which safeguard the right to make personal healthcare decisions without government interference.
Her work on healthcare is equally commendable. Hayes has consistently fought to reduce systemic disparities, lower drug prices, and strengthen Medicare and Medicaid. Additionally, her advocacy for mental health services and addiction treatment showcases her comprehensive approach to improving the well-being of her constituents.
Education is another pillar of Congresswoman Hayes’ platform. As a former teacher, she knows firsthand the importance of investing in our schools. She has championed initiatives that promote equitable, safe learning environments and has pushed for federal funding to support our students and teachers.
From gun violence prevention to climate change, from civil rights to infrastructure, Jahana Hayes stands as a voice of reason and progress in Washington. Her work on behalf of Connecticut’s families, students, and workers is unmatched, and I am proud to support her.
