The Friends of the C.H. Booth Library will hold a special sale of do-it-yourself books the weekend of October 5-6 in the lower level meeting room at C.H. Booth Library, 25 Main Street.

Sale hours are Saturday, 9:30 am-5 pm; and Sunday, noon-5 pm.

The sale will feature a huge selection of do-it-yourself books and media covering a broad range of hobbies and crafts, such as woodworking, furniture-making and other wood crafts; home remodeling, improvement and decorating; cooking, sewing and other fabric arts, knitting, crocheting, gardening and more.

The sale was made possible because of a generous donation of thousands of mint-condition books from Newtown’s prestigious Taunton Press.

“With colder weather and the holiday season on the way, the Friends decided to hold this special sale,” says Sale Chair Marge Gingolaski. “Whether you’re thinking of taking up a new craft or hobby, you’re ready to go to the next level or you’re an advanced home hobbyist, we have something for you.”

“Some people love Taunton Press books with their bold photos and directions; other people look to visual aids like DVDs. We have both,” adds Friends volunteer Denise Kaiser. “Maybe you know someone who would appreciate receiving a Taunton Press publication as a holiday gift.”

All items will be arranged by category for easy browsing and prices will be very reasonable. All DVDs will sell for $3 and most books will be priced in the $5 range. Shoppers can pay by cash, check or credit card.

Those who are unable to attend the two-day sale will find a small selection of do-it-yourself items in the Friends’ Little Book Store, open year-round and located on the main floor of the library.
