To the Editor:

What if … Instead of the proposed 117 unit cluster housing for 20-60 Castle Hill, developers created the equivalent amount of living spaces somewhere else.

Where? Here are some suggestions. The former police station at 3 Main Street. The former Amaral property on South Main Street. The former Kent Hall at Fairfield Hills. The former Shelton Hall at Fairfield Hills. The former Cochran Hall at Fairfield Hills. The former power plant at Fairfield Hills. The former Taunton Press on South Main Street. The mostly empty plaza at Stop & Shop. Lots of existing space.

Of course they all need renovation and rezoning, but why not redevelop instead of destroying more of Newtown’s pristine landscapes?
