Victoria Hensel
Victoria Marie LaBagh Hensel, 78, of Sandy Hook, passed away peacefully at home on September 18 after a long struggle with Parkinson’s disease.
Vicki was born in New Jersey and had been a resident of Sandy Hook for many years, having married and raised her two sons, Michael and James.
Vicki graduated from Berkley Secretarial School and started her career at Bristol Myers in the Pharmaceutical Department working for the International Accountant. She then moved on to Boehringer Ingelheim working in the Drug Regulatory Affairs Department. She was instrumental in forming the Labeling Group and was an active member of the Activity Committee.
While working full-time and raising her two sons she was a charter member of Newtown Junior Women’s Club, a member of Newtown Tennis Association, and a member of Newtown Skateboard Committee. She was also a board member, program coordinator, and wrote the newsletter for Newtown International Club. In addition, she was an active member and stage manager of The Town Players of Newtown. She had a role in an English Farce and was a lighting technician for the play Side by Side.
Vicki is survived by her loving son James Thomas Hensel, nephew Damian LaBagh, granddaughter Faith Hensel, and many other relatives.
She was predeceased by her parents, brother, and loving son Michael Scott Hensel.
A Mass of Christian Burial to celebrate Vicki’s life will be held at St Rose of Lima Church on Thursday October 3, at 10:30 am. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation, parkinson.org.
Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street in Newtown, is serving the family.
