Ready To Vote For A Change

To the Editor:

I am ready for a change, and I believe others are, as well.

Michelle Embree Ku is running for State Representative of the 106th District this November, opposing incumbent Republican Mitch Bolinsky. However one perceives his achievements in his years as representative, it is time to look forward.

Michelle is the person to keep Newtown on track at the state level. A parent, scientist and a longtime resident, she has committed a dozen years to serving this town in a variety of capacities that have broadened her knowledge of Newtown’s needs and its people: on the Charter Revision Commission, the Board of Education, the Legislative Council, and currently on the Board of Selectmen. She is familiar with the legislative process, having chaired the State Legislature Task Force on Life Threatening Food Allergies in Schools and served on the Governor’s Regional Advisory Team regarding school-return during COVID. She also chaired the State Government Relations Committee for the Connecticut Association of Boards of Education.

Michelle supports many issues of importance to me: gun violence prevention measures, trauma-informed crises response school drills, and LGBTQ rights. She was among those pushing back against local book-banning efforts. And — so important now — she supports women’s rights to determine their own reproductive health.

She supports HB-5004, advancing the state’s environmental goals.

Michelle is focused, hard-working, and reasonable. She will bring to the state the knowledge of what makes Newtown tick — and what ticks off Newtown’s people!

Michelle Embree Ku is the person Newtown will be proud to call our 106th District Representative.

Vote for Michelle and the Democratic ticket in November. Vote for a strong future.

HB-5004 will make everyone’s energy bills go up, as well as making our state even less affordable. Maybe some people don’t care, but it is out of touch with the working and middle class.
