Peter Stanton Darling, 87, passed away peacefully in Danbury on August 27.

He was born in Northampton, Mass., on May 22, 1937, to parents Warren and Cathryn Darling. He was the oldest of three children, sister Nancy and brother David.

Peter’s passion for flying led him to join the Air Force in 1956 to serve his country and also to have the chance to travel the world and become a pilot. He was honorably discharged from the Air Force in 1962.

He then went on to pursue his undergraduate degree in psychology at West Virginia Wesleyan. His love for education and the law then led him to earn his JD from Boston University. Soon after graduation, he started his law practice in the Danbury area. He was a member of Danbury Rotary Club for many years throughout his professional career as well.

He met his wife Kaye Eunice Knowlton shortly after he moved back to Danbury. They were married in 1967 and settled down to start their lives in Newtown. They had two sons, Stephen and Gregory.

Peter was a devoted father who loved to take his boys flying for leisure and taught them how to golf. He was involved in their sports teams and always helped with fundraising any way he could. He was a well respected member of the community in Newtown.

Peter was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend to many. He will be missed dearly but his memories will live on with us forever. He is survived by his loving wife, Kaye Darling of Newtown; son Stephen Darling of Harrisburg, N.C., and Gregory of Tomkins Cove, N.Y. Pete’s memory will also be cherished by Cindy Darling, Angela Hughes; his grandkids, Ella Darling, Jack Darling, and Cohle Darling; sisters-in-law Ann and Janet; and his nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11 am Saturday, September 28, at Newtown Congregational Church, 14 West Street in Newtown, CT 06470.
