The August Friends Of Newtown Seniors (FONS) Roundtable Discussions has been canceled.

The monthly events are held on the fourth Tuesday of each month at Newtown Senior Center.

The building at 8 Simpson Street will be closed the week of August 26-31, however, for annual maintenance.

The next roundtable will be Tuesday, September 24. The discussions are moderated by Ned Simpson.

All are invited to join the discussion of senior life in Newtown. Reservations are not needed but additional information is available from Simpson, neds2124@gmail.com.

Approximately 20 people gathered for the most recent FONS Roundtable on July 23. The latest in the monthly series covered affordable housing at Nunnawauk Meadows and potential improvements to general senior safety. The meeting included special guests Mary Salley, executive director of Nunnawauk Meadows; and Rich Simoneau, president of Newtown Housing for the Elderly Inc.
