Jon Soriano
We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Jon Victor Soriano on August 4, 2024, at the age of 56.
Jon was born in Englewood, N.J., to David Soriano and Judith Bender on March 29, 1968. He graduated from Masuk High School in Monroe in 1986. He went on to study English at University of Connecticut and to earn an MBA and an MS from Case Western Reserve University.
Jon met the love of his life, Brenda Marie Thulen, at University of Connecticut. They were married on June 13, 1997, and together they built a beautiful life with two children, Sophia Rose and Joseph David, and their beloved pets Bo, Peach, and Yoda.
Last year Jon started his own consulting business, JVS Revenue Acceleration. Previously he held roles with WTW, IBM, and most recently with Thomson Reuters where he was Vice President, Sales Coverage and Incentives. As part of that role he and his family lived in Zug, Switzerland, for almost four years, which was a very special part of their lives together.
Jon was a life-long lover of music of all kinds from Frank Zappa to Carmina Burana. He also enjoyed science fiction movies and books, Dungeons and Dragons, camping with friends and family, and NY Jets Football, but most of all he loved and cherished his family and friends. He was always extremely proud of his children and their many achievements and he was an incredible supporter of all of his friends and family in their endeavors and accomplishments. He had an amazing spirit and often said, “every day is a gift.”
Jon was preceded in death by Judith Bender (mother), Kenneth Thulen (brother-in-law), and Paula Thulen (step mother-in-law).
Jon is survived by Brenda Soriano (wife), Sophia Soriano and Joseph Soriano (children); Marcy DeMassa (sister) and Robert DeMassa (brother-in-law); David Soriano (father) and Laura Bard (“Mom”); Virginia Thulen (mother-in-law) and Walter Jabs (partner); Philip Thulen Jr (father-in-law); Philip Thulen III (brother-in-law) and Brenda Thulen (sister-in-law); and his nieces and nephews: Zoe DeMassa, Christopher Thulen, Shelby and Brandon Chamberland-Reyes, Noah Thulen, Alex Pace, and Owen Thulen.
On August 13, Jon’s family will receive visitors from 11 am to 12:30 pm followed by a Memorial Service starting from 12:30 to 1 pm at Spadaccino and Leo P. Gallagher Funeral Home, 315 Monroe Turnpike in Monroe.
The Soriano family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be given to Ann’s Place — Community-Based Cancer Support.
The Soriano family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to RVNA Health, Hartford Healthcare St Vincent’s Medical Center of Bridgeport, and to all our caring family and friends who did so much to support us.
