To the Editor,

Another year, another successful book sale! The Friends of the C.H. Booth Library thanks the volunteers, town and school officials, local businesses, and of course our generous neighbors who donated the books and other items that made this, our 48th sale, possible.

We are grateful to all of our volunteers, but especially to those who volunteer year-round. Many thanks go to the local residents who helped set up and assisted during the sale, including high school and college students, especially members of the NHS girls’ cheerleading squad and boys’ football team.

Town officials and school personnel provide assistance throughout the year and especially at book sale time. We appreciate the support of First Selectman Jeff Capeci and the Newtown School District, as well as that of the Borough of Newtown, the Public Works Department, the Land Use Agency, and Police Department. Especially helpful were RIS Principal Matt Correia and staff (especially the custodians).

Many local businesses generously stepped up to the plate again this year: Armstrong Moving & Storage, Associated Refuse Haulers, Bagel Delight, Big Y, Blue Colony Diner, Boy Scout Troop 70, Caraluzzi’s Markets, Carminuccio’s Pizza, Costco, Dunkin’, Durant’s Party Rentals, Franco’s Pizza & Pasta, Hilltop Kitchen, My Place Restaurant, Newtown Savings Bank, Papa Al’s, Phinney’s, Project Pizza, Pudlez T-Shirts, Sal e Pepe, Stew Leonard’s and Stop & Shop.

Last but not least, we thank The Newtown Bee for its coverage of this much-loved Newtown summer event.

Income from the book sale provides a major portion of the Friends’ annual grant to Newtown’s wonderful C.H. Booth Library for programs, the acquisition of books and media, and various special endeavors. As always, the library’s director, staff and board of trustees earn our daily appreciation.

Sincerely,

Richard A. Anthony
