The Society of Creative Arts of Newtown (SCAN) will present Fang Sullivan painting a portrait in pastel on Wednesday, June 26, at 1:30 pm, at Newtown Meeting House, 31 Main Street (at The Flagpole). The demonstration is open to the public and admission is free.

Sullivan is an award-winning artist known for her distinctive use of colors in pastel and oil. Her work won first prize in the 2024 National Association of Women Artists (NAWA) “Celebrating Women Who Tell Our Stories” exhibition.

Sullivan now focuses on portrait painting, drawing inspiration from people around her. She often uses rich pigments and the broken-color technique.

Sullivan received classical art training from her artist parents and earned a BFA from the School of Visual Arts in NYC. She is an artist member of The Salmagundi Club, a member of the American Impressionist Society and the Pastel Society of America. She is a signature member of NAWA and an elected artist member of the American Artists Professional League (AAPL).

In addition to creating art, she has a career in advertising as an associate creative director. She enjoys sharing her art and painting techniques through time-lapse videos on her Instagram account (@fangsullivan).

Reservations are not needed for SCAN programs but additional information may be found at SCANart.org.
