To the Editor:

On behalf of this year’s LobsterFest Committee — myself, Ryan Clark, Matt Dobson, George Lockwood Jr, and Jeff Thomas — and the officers and members of Sandy Hook Volunteer Fire & Rescue Co, we would like to thank our families, friends, fellow firefighters, residents of Newtown, and out-of-town guests for helping to make our 35th LobsterFest on Friday and Saturday, June 7 and 8, a success. We served over 2,000 lobsters and 770 pounds of steak that weekend.

We would like to thank the neighbors who allowed use of part of their property for parking, and all of our neighbors for putting up with the noise.

We also need to thank our fellow volunteer firefighters from surrounding fire departments — Botsford, Hawleyville, Dodgingtown, Newtown Hook & Ladder, Naugatuck Fire Police, Southbury, Easton, Monroe, Stepney, and Stevenson — and anyone else who offered their support this year.

We appreciate the crews from Botsford and Hook & Ladder who provided station coverage each night, ready to respond to calls in our district had they come in.

In addition, we would like to thank Associated Refuse, JP Maguire, Omaha Beef, and Value Waste for their donations of dumpsters, corn, trucks, and other supplies. We’d also like to thank Greg and Pegi Gnandt and The Barnum Festival for donating golf carts and other supplies.

We have so many people to thank, and we are sorry if we missed anyone.

Thank you for the continued support of Sandy Hook Fire & Rescue. Mark your calendars for the 36th LobsterFest — June 6 and 7, 2025.

Sincerely,

Chief Anthony Capozziello, LobsterFest Chairman

Sandy Hook Volunteer Fire & Rescue Company
