John Joseph Malloy, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully on June 8 surrounded by his family.

Born in Fountain Hill, Penn., John was the cherished son of Thomas L. Malloy, an electrician, and Beatrice G. Malloy, who worked in retail.

John was a proud alumnus of Moravian College and Notre Dame Law School. He spent part of law school studying in the UK at the Notre Dame London Law Program. He was an Eagle Scout and avid golfer, working as a caddy at a young age and ultimately playing at the collegiate level.

He was known for his strong sense of justice, hard work, and loyalty. He leveraged his sense of humor and quick wit to make the most of every moment. His greatest pride, however, was his family.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 51 years, Jane Malloy; his three children: Dr Lindsey Walton (Dustin) of Lake Quivira, Kan., Thomas Malloy (Tara Hagan) of Darien, and Christopher Malloy (Amie) of Brooklyn, N.Y.; and his sister, Patricia Walder (Joseph). John was a loving grandfather to Lucas Walton, Madeline Walton, Hagan John Malloy, Jack Walton, Lennon Malloy, and Kit Malloy, who shared his birthday.

John had an illustrious career, starting off as an international attorney across various roles at Union Carbide, Eveready Battery & Schering-Plough. His work took him across the globe, where he demonstrated his remarkable skills and dedication.

After years of traveling with Jane, they settled in Newtown, where John founded and ran a successful boutique law firm for almost 40 years. His professional life was marked by an unwavering commitment to integrity, trustworthiness, and an attention to detail that earned him respect and admiration from colleagues and clients alike.

In addition to his professional achievements and family, John had a passion for vintage Land Rovers and all things automotive. He was an avid sports fan, particularly of Notre Dame, the Yankees, UConn basketball and NYCFC. John treasured time spent on Cape Cod, where he and Jane created lasting memories with their children and grandchildren. A voracious reader with a deep love for education, John believed in the power of hard work and honesty.

John’s legacy of professionalism, dedication, and a big heart will continue to inspire all who knew him. His proudest accomplishment was his family, whom he adored deeply.

A visitation will be held on June 23 from 5 to 7 pm at Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street. A funeral service will be held the following day at 10 am at Newtown United Methodist Church. John’s family would appreciate donations being made to your favorite charity in John’s memory. Any tributes can be made through his memorial page, honanfh.com.
