Real Food CT sponsored a spring gardening event at Sticks & Stones Farm on May 4.

Expert farmers and master gardeners shared important information on preparing garden soil, natural pest management, appropriate conditions to grow crops, and other important information designed to ensure a successful gardening season. Local farmers, crafts persons, herbalists, and others were also available to answer questions and to sell locally grown produce and handcrafted items.

Flowering plants, seedlings, and vegetable packs were also available for purchase to support the work of the 501(c)(3) nonprofit founded on the belief that everyone deserves access to healthy food.

Real Food CT provides produce to 13 food pantries in Bridgeport, Stratford, Bethel, Seymour, Newtown, Danbury, Southbury, and Wilton. In 2023, 30,000 pounds of fresh produce were donated to these food pantries.
