SCAN Spring Show & Sale Officially On View

The Society of Creative Arts of Newtown (SCAN) hosted a reception on April 6 for its 50th Spring Juried Art Show and Sale at Art & Frame Gallery. An estimated 100 people attended the opening for the annual presentation, which will remain on view until May 24.

Jurors for the show included Sandra Cointreau, Jim Laurino, and Alain Picard, who are all well-known artists. Awards totaling $2,000 were presented to the winning artists, who were announced during Saturday’s celebratory opening.

A wide variety of artistic media was represented including oil, watercolor, and acrylic paintings, pieces of sculpture, mixed media entries, prints, pastels, and other forms of graphics.

Art & Frame, at 77 Main Street, is open Monday through Saturday from 10 am to 6 pm.

More than 100 guests attended the opening reception of SCAN’s 52nd Annual Spring Juried Art Show and Sale, held April 6 at Art & Frame Gallery on Main Street. The annual exhibition is now on view until the end of May. —Bee Photos, Glass
Among the award winners was Sandie Daignault who won The Meeting House Painters Award for her acrylic painting “Not Far from Here” (upper left).
Cathleen Nardo won The C.H. Booth Library Award for her painting “Contemplating Degas.”
Randy Carboni was also an award winner, having picked up The Barbara Engelman Memorial Award for Watercolor for his painting “Evil Goat.”
Also among the award winners was Maureen Gianni who won The Marianne Scanlon Memorial Award for “Putnam Pond.”
Pamela J. Danneman won The Caraluzzi’s Market Award for her painting “Sheep.”
