The Flagpole Photographers Camera Club welcomes photographers of all levels to their April events, which will open with “Light Painting Cars & Still Life” presented by Shiv Verma on Thursday, April 11, at 7:30 pm, virtually and in person at Newtown Senior Center, 8 Simpson Street.

Verma will demonstrate light painting techniques on a model car, followed by discussions on applying these techniques to real cars and still life. There will be hands-on activities following the presentation.

The club also invites the public to join them at their April competition meeting. The competition theme for this month is “Animals/Pets” and the Monthly Challenge theme is “Churches” in addition to the monthly color and monochrome categories.

This meeting will also be virtual and in person on Thursday, April 25, at 7:30 pm, at the senior center.

The public is also invited to join the club at Workshop Day, Saturday, April 27, at 8:45 am. This hands-on workshop is a great way to boost photography skills while capturing photos of historic Newtown and Sandy Hook.

Participants will work alongside award-winning photographers for the entire session. Cost is $25 (free for club members). Additional information and registration is available through FlagpolePhotographers.com or Info@FlagpolePhotographers.com.

There is no charge to attend Flagpole Photographers Camera Club competitions. Flagpole Photographers is a local nonprofit group that enables members to share their images and expertise, to learn and grow in their photography, and to enjoy the camaraderie of fellow photographers who come from diverse backgrounds, with photographic skills ranging from novices to professionals.

New members are always welcome to join the club and may enter their work in monthly club competitions, participate in workshops, take field trips, get involved in community programs, and take part in annual exhibits.

Additional club information, meeting dates, including calendar of events, member galleries, and workshop information can be found at FlagpolePhotographers.com.
