Town & Country Will Welcome Beekeeper, Celebrates Successful Workshop
The Town & Country Garden Club of Newtown will host Edward Bahr, owner of Mike’s Beehives in Torrington, on Wednesday, April 10, at 7 pm, at Newtown Senior Center, 8 Simpson Street.
Bahr has had a passion for honeybees since he was five years old. After 45 years of working in the automotive industry he converted his auto shop into a beehive supply store.
Bahr helps beekeepers with all their needs by building handcrafted beehives, teaching classes, and delivering packages of bees to new beekeepers. He is helping pollinators live healthy and happy lives.
All are welcome to attend the presentation, free of charge.
Floral Arranging Workshop
The Town & Country Garden Club hosted a flower arranging demonstration and workshop on March 27 at Cyrenius H. Booth Library.
The workshop was open to the public and attended by 18 participants (club members and members of the public). Arline Shanley started with a demonstration, and Margareta Kotch and Barbara McCann assisted and guided as each participant created their own beautiful flower arrangement, just in time for their Easter dinner table.
Each participant received a handout of tips, techniques, and guidelines to help make future flower arrangements easier to create and last longer.
Town & Country is an energetic and community-minded club 64 years strong. Members maintain the Borough’s three traffic islands and promote education in horticulture, conservation and environmental concerns. New members are always welcome.
