Newtown Senior Center hosted a new event last week, with members and friends enjoying lunch, live music, and raffles.

Staff and volunteers cooked and served lunch to 52 guests — a capacity crowd — many wearing holiday colors for the Holiday Winter Wonderland Party on December 15.

Decorations filled the space, honoring Hanukkah, Christmas and New Year. A folding wall that can be used to create two separate rooms along the center’s western area was folded up on Friday, creating the large gathering space for a few hours.

The combined holiday chorus of Matinee and The Rip Chords performed to the delight of the guests who were encouraged to sing along to several Christmas carols, and did so with great enthusiasm. Members of the combined chorus came from Fairfield and New Haven Counties.
