Three Near Misses On Revamped Roadway

To the Editor:

I’m certain people traversing the Toddy Hill Road/Route 34 updated construction site were elated to see it finished — finally. However, there are now two lanes designated at the end of Toddy Hill Road at the intersection of Route 34 for a possible left turn. People who anticipate going onto the ramp for I-84 should travel in the far right lane before turning left.

I have had three near collisions with cars who opted for the left turn lane and then tried to merge with my car in the right lane to get onto I-84. I suggest those individuals who are in the left turn lane on Toddy Hill Road remain on Route 34 and turn left onto Wasserman Way to get onto I-84.

Left turn off the exit has exactly the same issue. I’ve been nearly bashed by folks in the far left lane drifting all the way over. Bad traffic design. Get rid of that second turn lane. Just had a gentleman drift all the way over to the shoulder right in front of me. Would have totalled my car had I not been paying attention. He stopped and sat bewildered with a ‘How did I get here’ look.
