To the Editor:

Now that our local elections have concluded and the political lawn signs have (hopefully) disappeared, I would like to offer a sincere thank you to our outgoing First Selectman Dan Rosenthal for his outstanding leadership while serving our town. Over the past six years, Dan has consistently demonstrated the qualities of a non-partisan public servant who continually strived for unity by working with both parties. That is something rarely seen any longer even at the local level.

Dan was instrumental in the construction of the new police department building and worked persistently to attract other businesses to Newtown. It was and will continue to be a top priority while keeping us a fiscally responsible municipality. I am also very appreciative of his guidance and availability during the pandemic, which was extremely difficult for many businesses.

I would also like to thank outgoing Selectman Maureen Crick Owen for her service as well.
