Family: My dad, Bill Sr, and my stepmom Kathi; my uncle, Chip; my aunt, Althea; and my stepfamily, including Anne Ragusa and Jamie Morris, who are local; and my girlfriend, Michele Kann.

Pets: I have two dogs, Phoenix and Echo, who are very comical; and a tortoise named Tortellini. Tortellini is hilarious. He loves running around in the fruit garden at our house, and he gets so excited when we pick him up to take him outside when it’s nice out.

Career: I’m the owner and operator of Bill Hegenauer LLC Plumbing Services. I’m a residential service plumber, covering anything from well pumps and water filtration to small new construction and remodel projects.

Hobbies/Pastimes: When I get free time I enjoy dirt biking, mountain biking, kayaking, camping, fishing — anything outdoors is what my girlfriend and I are up for. If it’s got wheels or goes in the water, that’s good.

How long have you lived in Newtown? I’ve lived in Newtown for seven years, but I’ve worked in Newtown for 20+ years. I worked for Tim Conlon before working for myself.

Favorite travel destination: Anything basically up north and in the woods.

Favorite band or music genre? I’ve got a very eclectic ear but I’m through and through a metal head. The heavier the better. One of the things I really enjoy doing is going to rock festivals. I’ve traveled twice to Wisconsin, once in an RV, and I’ve traveled down to Virginia, to the Blue Ridge Rock Fest. That last one ended up being a monumental nightmare this year. I almost went to that one again — I was supposed to go — and I’m so glad I didn’t.

What was the last movie you saw in a theater? I don’t remember, but I literally just watched Don’t Look Up (on Netflix).

What do you like about The Newtown Bee? I think The Newtown Bee is a wholesome and fantastic thing to still have around. It’s such a dying industry, and you guys still march ahead in a very humbled yet proud way. It’s so cool to see that The Newtown Bee is still doing what it does best.

What do you like most about Newtown? I think Newtown is a wonderful blend of old meets new. There’s a lot of charm and hidden gems that I think a lot of people don’t realize, all the hiking areas. It’s a beautiful town — just go for a ride around here, around the perimeter, just go for a random ride and just see all the diversity that Newtown has.

Do you have a personal credo or motto? Never be afraid to try something new. You never know what you might be good at.
