George J. Grosner
He was resident of Newtown since 1962 and was a long-time parishioner of St Rose of Lima Church where he helped count the weekly offerings and volunteered at the annual carnival. He was also active in Boy Scouts serving as Scoutmaster for several years.
George was born in Stratford on August 28, 1934, to the late George and Anna (Moyher) Grosner.
He was predeceased by his wife Esther and his siblings Judith and Anne. He leaves behind his brother, Don; 5 children, George, Mary, Susan, Michael, and Mark; 7 beloved grandchildren, Jacob, Isaac, Sarah, Matthew, Nicholas, Aidan, and Dominic.
George was a graduate of Fairfield University with a degree in Chemistry. He worked at several companies before starting his own successful consulting business.
George’s favorite vacation destination was Walt Disney World, and his favorite ride was “It’s a Small World”. His children still cannot get that song out of their heads.
Friends are invited to pay condolences to George’s family on Wednesday, November 8, from 5-7 pm, at Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated Thursday, November 9, at noon, in St Rose of Lima Church. Interment will follow in St Rose Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St Rose of Lima Church.
