To the Editor:

As former residents of Newtown and now relocated to South Carolina, my wife and I still follow town events through The Newtown Bee. Newtown was our home for many years and we raised three children who went through the school system. My wife and I had the pleasure to meet John Madzula several years ago through mutual friends. Over the five years we have known John, we were able to be there for his initial run for Board of Finance, which he was elected to. We have watched John grow as a person, attorney, and elected official. But importantly, John, my wife, and I became friends.

Although we are not living in Newtown currently, my wife and I cannot think of a better (and selfless) person to run for, and be elected to, the Board of Selectmen for Newtown. He has demonstrated critical thinking, working across party politics, and what matters most, he really does care about Newtown and its future.

Although we do not get a chance to see one another always, we stay in touch as much as we can. And that is what John represents, a true individual that cares for people and Newtown.

We wish we could be there for election night to support John. But we know that if you vote for John Madzula II for the Board of Selectmen, he will continue to lead by example and be there for all citizens.

Please support our friend as he continues on his journey to keep it “Nicer in Newtown”!!
