To the Editor:

In 2005 I joined Jeff Capeci as newly elected members of Newtown’s Legislative Council.

He impressed me then and has continued to do so throughout his 13 years on the Council, as chair of a Charter Revision Committee, and as a two-term member of the Board of Selectmen. Jeff understands complex issues, is a natural collaborator, seeks common sense solutions and positive outcomes. Most impressive quality of all, though, is his strength as a leader.

Throughout his many years in public service and in his professional career, Jeff has been selected to lead, to manage, to set the tone and establish the mission. Jeff has performed very well in those roles. Newtown has benefitted from Jeff’s abilities, his diligence and commitment.

I believe that leadership experience and proven capacity are difference makers, that the qualities of leadership are primary and essential.

Jeff Capeci has that proven record of civic leadership. He is the right choice for Newtown’s First Selectman.
