To the Editor:

It is an honor and privilege to have known Jeff Capeci for the past 18 years. We met when our sons were in Boy Scouts, and he was their leader. As a parent and school counselor, I know the importance of our children having strong and appropriate role models.

Jeff Capeci was a warm, compassionate, and understanding role model for my son. I felt comfortable with my son under his leadership as I knew Jeff would respect my family’s values while encouraging my son to grow as an individual.

As a young adult, my son is very civic minded and readily involves himself in the community.

I believe that his experiences with Jeff influenced him to take his civic responsibilities seriously. Our children need more people like Jeff in leadership positions. His calm manner and willingness to listen to others, as well as being an active participant in our community, are qualities that our young people need to see.

Jeff possesses the qualities that will bring stability to our community.

Jeff has served on various committees in the Town of Newtown for 20 years. He brings a wealth of knowledge to the position of First Selectman that will be a benefit to all of us.

There is no doubt in my mind that Jeff will be one of our finest first selectmen. I believe he will lead with vision and purpose and will welcome new ideas and development that will benefit Newtown while keeping to our core values.
