To the Editor:

Thank you to the readers for giving me the opportunity to share with you why I think my husband, William DeRosa should be reelected to Legislative Council D1. We purchased a home in Newtown on Taunton Hill Rd in 2011.

For those of you unaware, William is a classical musician, a concert cellist who had a very successful career playing all over the world in most of the major halls. In 1999, one of his recordings was named Stereophile CD of the year. As I would watch and listen to him prepare for those concerts, often practicing 6/8 hours a day, I would listen in amazement as he would take a piece of music from infancy to the stage. Over and over, until it satisfied him.

However, the strange thing is, he was never satisfied, always feeling he could have done better or made improvements after a performance. This is who my husband is, an individual driven by dedication and passion to whatever he may be doing. Often in wee hours of morning, long after he has tucked our son in bed and lights out, I find him busy working or writing letters regarding Newtown.

Whether he is busy finding volunteers to fill vacancies for town positions, studying town budgets while looking for cuts that could be passed down, he is always doing what he does best, giving 100 percent. Moreover, he deeply desires to keep Newtown that special town we all know and cherish. No person I know has the energy or dedication he has devoted to this job and town.

November 7th is a day we all must practice our civic duty and exercise our privilege of voting. Please join me in supporting my husband for reelection for a position in the Legislative Council D1.

Thank you,

Kersti Ferguson
