To the Editor:

My husband, Brian Leonardi, is running for reelection on the Planning & Zoning Commission, and I want to offer a few reasons why I think you’ll love having him on the Commission in the years ahead.

First, Brian is really dedicated to his role on the Commission. Even though he currently serves as an Alternate Commissioner, which means that he gets to ask questions but doesn’t always get to vote, he never uses that as an excuse not to be prepared or show up. Brian has gone to Planning & Zoning meetings on his birthday and on our wedding anniversary (yes, I said it was OK).

Brian also really cares about how residents feel about development in town. When the truck warehouse was being proposed, there were several times when Brian was approached by people in Big Y or Caraluzzi’s to talk about the application. Brian always took the time to stop and listen to their questions and concerns, which can be a challenge when your kids just want to go home!

Lastly, Brian actually enjoys the work!

Between his day job as an attorney and being a husband and father to our two daughters, I have never once heard Brian complain about having a P&Z meeting. He’s honest, dedicated and doing it for the right reasons.

Even though being on P&Z means Brian is home late two Thursdays a month, my daughters and I know that the work he puts in is truly a benefit to Newtown. I hope that you’ll give Brian an opportunity to continue this important work by electing him this November.
