I am writing to support Neil Chaudhary’s re-election to Newtown’s Police Commission.

Dr Chaudhary has served the community since 2009, always demonstrating a commitment to collaboration, active listening, respect, and focus on the greater good.

From the Tick Borne Disease Committee to Legislative Council, then Public Safety Committee, Community Emergency Response Team and Police Commission, Neil has consistently and carefully prioritized the interests of the community ahead of partisan needs. In addition to these personal qualities that Neil exhibits and which we all want and need in our elected representatives at every level of service, Neil brings academic and professional experience that prepare him exceptionally well to serve as a Police Commissioner.

He is a nationally recognized traffic safety scientist with a work history at the state and federal levels. Neil contributed substantially to the development of our CT Graduated Drivers License, a model approach recognized across the nation.

Locally, Dr Chaudhary collaborated with our Newtown Police Department to improve safety of children at school bus stops. Neil Chaudhary brings knowledge, experience, commitment and professional expertise to the Newtown Police Commission.

Although currently residing in Middlebury, I care very much about what happens in Newtown, our family home for more than 50 years. Dr Chaudhary has served well as a Police Commissioner and it is in the community’s best interest to re-elect him to that role.
