To the Editor:

Hello, my name is John Robinson, and I am excited to announce that I am running for a position on the Zoning Board of Appeals this November.

I moved to Newtown in 1993, where my wife Michele and I raised our three children. Newtown’s unique character, close-knit community, and exceptional school system were the driving forces behind our decision to make Newtown our home. Over the span of 12 years, our children flourished within the Newtown School system, forging enduring friendships and engaging in sports, both within the school and through the Parks and Recreation programs. The impact of Newtown on their growth has undoubtedly contributed to their current success and the reason my daughter and her husband returned to raise our two grandsons here.

I recently retired from my four-decade-long career as an electrical engineer at Northrop Grumman in August 2021. My career focused on the design and development of cutting-edge military electronic systems in support of our US troops in harm’s way. At Northrop Grumman, I evolved through various roles, progressing from an entry-level engineer to leadership positions, technical advisory roles, and finally, the esteemed title of NG Fellow. My wealth of experience, coupled with a passion for construction and property development, positions me as a valuable asset to the Zoning Board of Appeals (ZBA).

I firmly believe that preserving Newtown’s distinct identity while fostering economic growth requires a delicate balance. It is our shared responsibility to strategize and implement plans that guarantee a bright future for our remarkable town and its residents. I pledge to drive that balance promoting a positive outlook for Newtown.

I appreciate your consideration and would be honored to serve you and our Newtown Community.

Sincerely,

John Robinson

Sandy Hook
