I’m Jordana Bloom and I’m writing to ask for your support for my candidacy for the Legislative Council in District 2.

My family and I have called Newtown home for 21 years, and I am passionate about helping our wonderful community. I am currently so proud to work for the wonderful C.H. Booth Library here in Newtown managing fundraising and community outreach.

I formerly worked in the health care field here, and I’ve owned my own small business. I was previously elected for two terms on the Legislative Council, where I was vice-chair of the Municipal Operations subcommittee during my second term, and served also on the Education and Ordinance subcommittees. As well, I’m currently on the Community Center Board and volunteer for other town organizations.

My husband and I raised four children who attended Newtown public schools, and I hope to give back to Newtown by fighting for greater resources for our schools, encouraging more women and other underrepresented groups to participate in town government, and preserving our town’s residential and business character.

Over the past five years since I originally got involved in Newtown government, I’ve been fortunate to work with some outstanding individuals who care deeply about our community. I would be extremely grateful for the opportunity to apply my experience and enthusiasm to continue to support these people and others in our shared goal of strengthening Newtown even further.
