My name is John Fletcher, and I am honored to be a candidate for Newtown’s Board of Finance in the town elections this November.

The BOF has goals that sometimes conflict, between investing in the community but keeping our spending affordable. I have the right experience to balance those trade-offs.

I've lived with my family in Newtown for 21 years, with four great kids who attended Newtown public schools. So I'm a strong advocate for investing in education, because it benefits our students directly and it increases the attractiveness and value of the town.

I also have an MBA and have worked for 35 years in corporate finance, so I’m experienced in managing business plans, budgets, and capital investments across multiple organizations and constituents.

The Board of Finance has contributed to the very strong financial condition that Newtown enjoys. I currently serve on the Borough Zoning Board of Appeals; with your support, I welcome the chance to apply my experience to the Board of Finance as well, to continue those strong contributions.

We’re all fortunate to live in Newtown. I appreciate your consideration to serve the community in this important role, and please reach out if you have any questions or comments.
