Pilobolus Balance Class, Performance Planned, Monday Night In Sandy Hook
The internationally acclaimed modern dance company, Pilobolus, based in Washington (Conn.), will present a family-friendly early evening event starting at 6 pm Monday, August 14, at Aquilas Nest Vineyard in Sandy Hook.
Pilobolus Education Director Emily Kent will offer an introduction to Pilobolus’s popular class, Connecting with Balance. The program aims to help participants — with an emphasis on senior adults — improve one of the most important aspects of long-term wellness: balance.
Immediately following the intro class, the Pilobolus dancers will perform their acclaimed original dance piece entitled “Branches.”
Both offerings will take place outside in the natural environment at 56 Pole Bridge Road.
Pilobolus is a rebellious dance company. Since 1971, Pilobolus has tested the limits of human physicality to explore the beauty and the power of connected bodies. The company continues to bring this tradition to global audiences through post-disciplinary collaborations with some of the greatest influencers, thinkers, and creators in the world.
Decades of expertise telling stories with the human form show diverse communities, brands, and organizations how to maximize group creativity, solve problems, create surprise, and generate joy through the power of nonverbal communication.
Cost is $40 per person, with 100 percent of ticket sales to be donated to Pilobolus. Tickets are required for participants of all ages. Early arrival is strongly encouraged.
Wine is not included in the ticket, and there is a minimum drink purchase of $10 plus tax and gratuity per adult participant to attend.
