Russell E. Bevans Sr, 79, of Oxford, passed away on June 27, 2023, at Waterbury Hospital surrounded by family.

Born in Bridgeport to Ernest and Ada Bevans, he was a resident of Oxford for 49 years. He is survived by his wife Eileen Hammond Bevans of 58 years, his three children, Russell Jr, Roberta, and Scott, and two grandchildren, Casey and Scott Jr.

Also his sister Ruth Hoff, and two brothers Robert Bevans and William Bevans.

He was an avid fresh and salt water fly fisherman. He enjoyed tying his own flies and teaching Boy Scouts how to tie flies.

He was a lifetime member of Trout Unlimited and a past president of the Housatonic Fly Fishermen’s Association.
