MILFORD — A Choose Love Movement fundraiser will take place at the Blue Heron in Milford on Friday, June 30 and Saturday, July 1 from 10 am to 5 pm.

The benefit, hosted by Newtown resident Maureen W. Lewis, will provide 100 percent of proceeds from all sales on both days to Choose Love. This is part of an annual June fundraiser to honor Sandy Hook victim, Jesse Lewis.

Refreshments will be available including cupcakes.

The Silver Sands beachfront shop, located at 852 East Broadway, has something for everyone. It is a go-to spot for beach lovers decorating their summer homes, with a large collection of nautical-inspired creations from local artists, plus collectables, handmade jewelry and trinkets, and vintage, antique, and new furnishings.

Maureen’s daughter Scarlett Lewis, Choose Love founder and Jesse’s mother, will be driving up in the Choose Love Bus bringing Choose Love merchandise for sale including rubber ducks to help promote the nonprofit’s “Summer of Fun Vacation Duck Photo Contest.”

Scarlett will also be available to sign her books, A Pathway to Flourishing, Nurturing Healing Love, From Sandy Hook to the World, and Rose’s Foal.

“My mom has owned and operated this store for over 20 years,” said Scarlett. “It’s such a great location across from the beautiful Silver Sands Beach so you can bring the family and make the day of it. It’s everything that we love, and I know that you’ll love it too. Plus everything you buy will benefit my nonprofit organization, which works to keep our kids safe and advocate for their health and well-being.”

Jesse would have been 17 years old on June 30. Jesse is credited with saving nine classmates in the Sandy Hook tragedy before being killed, and has inspired millions to Choose Love.

The Choose Love Movement is celebrating its 10th anniversary in 2023, and has served more than 3.5 million children and adults in all 50 states and across 120 countries.

According to Scarlett Lewis, any purchases made during the two-day event will support these 2023 goals: to reach 7 million people; high school and middle school program updates; a Choose Love Caregiver program launch; and a new Choose Love Corrections program launch.

Anyone who cannot attend but would like to support the Choose Love Movement can text JESSE to 41444 or make a donation online.
