Middle Gate School students and families enjoyed some fun in the sun at their annual Middle Gate Madness event on May 12.

Perhaps the most popular event, which drew a crowd even before it was manned, was the dunk tank. Recognizable figures to the Middle Gate crowd included Principal Chris Geissler and Tim Nott, an educator at the school.

Police officers who took to the tank included Officer Peter Wlasuk and Officer Nina Ongaro. Wlasuk’s father, who was present, had the unique opportunity to dunk his son himself.

Coloring activities, a cake walk, a bouncy house, DJ, facepainting and a magician plus access to the playground meant there was no shortage of activities kids could enjoy while enjoying some cotton candy and popcorn.

Botsford Fire Rescue and Newtown Volunteer Ambulance Corps were present at the event, with apparatus available to be explored. Parked alongside them were a food truck and an ice cream truck, which was very popular likely due to the hot weather.

In addition, there were several raffles in effect, including gift baskets for all ages, gift certificates, and special lunches kids could win with their favorite teachers or administrators.

Between activities, attendees relaxed in the shade and took the opportunity to mingle with other Middle Gate families, and enjoy the spirit of the day.
