To the Editor:

The Newtown Choral Society presented an energetic concert attended by an enthusiastic audience last Sunday afternoon. After a three-year pandemic absence, our director, Mary Andreotta, led us in singing a program of optimistic music of the ‘50s through the ‘80s.

As a finale, the audience was invited to join the choir in “Auld Lang Syne.” As always, our accompanist Susan Anthony-Klein supported us with her exhilarating concert performance.

And we thank our guest conductor, Amber Harris.

We thank Jonathan Gamble, Chuck Margoulas, Dick Zang, Jack Tanner, Jeff Jackson, and Kenneth Lerman, for transporting our equipment. We thank our ticket takers Hilary and Ava Vojtek.

The choir would specifically like to thank Nancy Dvorin for creating and supporting our social media and for her editorial support, and Peg Heetmann, our long-time treasurer.

We thank The Newtown Bee for their invaluable support in publicizing our concert.

Finally, as always, we must thank my husband, Kenneth, for his computer expertise, his patience and his muscle.

The Newtown Choral Society, now entering its 37th year, will begin rehearsals for its December holiday concert in September. We welcome new members from all area towns and have openings in all voices. Our soloists come from our membership.

We perform two concerts a year and practice Wednesday evenings at Newtown Middle School.
