UPDATE: The championship game will take place Thursday, May 25, at DeLuca Field starting at 7 pm.

Newtown High's softball team, led by pitcher Sydney Adolfson, posted another South-West Conference Tounament shutout, blanking Notre Dame-Fairfield 12-0 in the semifinals at DeLuca Field on May 23.

The Nighthawks, who shut out New Fairfield 14-0 in the quarterfinals, will take on Masuk of Monroe in the Thursday, May 25, championship game back at DeLuca Field; first pitch is at 7 pm.

Adolfson allowed two hits. At the plate, Maddie Thoesen drove in three runs and has 41 runs batted in this spring. Addison Cordova hit a two-run home run, Brinna Pellicone went 2-for-2, and Julia Berry went 4-for-4 and has collected 38 hits and scored 39 runs out of the leadoff spot this spring.
