Galanis Portfolio Works Within WCSU Senior Exhibition
DANBURY — Western Connecticut State University’s Department of Art will showcase original art created by WCSU Visual Arts students at the 2023 Senior Portfolio Exhibition, a free public exhibit to be presented April 20 to May 7.
The art will be on view in The Gallery at the Visual and Performing Arts Center, on WCSU’s westside campus at 43 Lake Avenue Extension in Danbury. Gallery hours are from noon to 4 pm Tuesday through Friday, and 1-4 pm Saturday and Sunday.
An opening reception is scheduled for Thursday, April 20, from 6 to 8 pm. The reception is free and open to the public, but registration is required at wcsuvpac.eventbrite.com.
The Senior Portfolio Exhibition serves as a capstone experience for students pursuing a BA in Art in one of four areas of concentration: graphic design, illustration, photography and studio arts (painting).
Paige Galanis of Sandy Hook is among those to have work included in this year’s presentation. Galanis is one of seven students in the Graphic Design division this year. Others include Angel Almonte, Danbury; Matt Taylor, Bethel; Kyle Estanqueiro, Danbury; Jillian Mirabal, Putnam Valley, N.Y.; Anthony Tassa, Mahopac, N.Y.; and Lauren Torre, New Milford.
Illustration candidates include Sarah Moffett, East Haven; Kathryn Stimpfl, New Milford; Liam Torlish, Carmel, N.Y.; Ryein Troiano, Danbury; and Chengyu Zhou, Bethel.
Photography candidates include Alexis Achilles, Danbury; Abbi Debes, New Milford; Anthony DeZinno, East Hampton; Christopher Ehlers, Norwalk; Hope Johnsky, Bristol; Mariana Miller, Bridgeport; Samuel Recinos, Bristol; Thomas Solano-Szostek, Norwalk; and Riley Weaver, Chestnut Ridge, N.Y.
Studio Art candidates this year include Alexis Achilles, Danbury; Joseph Maglio, New Fairfield; Joseph Nolan, Waterbury; Andrew Olson, Danbury; and Anna Schipf, Babylon, N.Y.
