Trout Unlimited Needs Volunteers For Newtown Earth Day Cleanup
Candlewood Valley Trout Unlimited (CVTU) will be hosting their annual Earth Day cleanup on Saturday, April 22 from 8:30 am to 1 pm.
Members will join one-day volunteers cleaning up locations within the chapter’s area of Newtown watercourse, clearing invasive species along Deep Brook and the Pootatuck River, and staging discarded Christmas trees for bank restoration projects.
Interested residents are invited to come support CVTU to keep Newtown’s local ecosystem healthy, cleaning up waste, preparing streams for bank stabilization projects later in the year, and protecting our riparian buffer or tree canopy.
Chapter members and supporters pursue a mission of conservation for clean, clear water, protecting vital natural resources, educating the community and creating a healthier ecosystem.
Meet in the back parking lot at 100 Church Hill Road in Sandy Hook village center to get an assignment where support is needed.
Organizers advise attendees to dress accordingly: long sleeves, long pants, boots, gloves, hat, sunscreen, and bug spray.
Details are online at cvtu.org, and any questions can be directed via-email to neil.baldino@gmail.com.
