Robert M. “Bob” Pollard, III, 80, of Sandy Hook, Connecticut, formerly of Bethel, Conn., and Greenwich, Conn., died on Saturday, March 25, 2023, after a lengthy illness.

He was the husband of Patricia (Accurso) Pollard.

Bob was born in Providence, Rhode Island, on October 20, 1942, the son of the late Raymond and Margaret (Crane) Pollard.

During his childhood, Bob and his family moved from Cranston, R.I., to New Rochelle, N.Y., and later to Old Greenwich. He attended Greenwich schools, graduated from Greenwich High School, and attended the School of Visual Arts of New York City. He was a United States Army veteran serving as an MP in Germany during the Vietnam War.

Bob was a gifted photographer. He photographed many babies and brides all across Fairfield County during his photography career, which spanned decades.

He joined OMEGA Engineering Corporation in Springdale, Conn., retiring as their facilities manager and their “house shutterbug,” photographing most all the company events.

Boating was his favorite pastime. Bob enjoyed being on the water, whether Long Island Sound or Candlewood Lake. His cars were spotless and he would often be seen outdoors tending to his meticulous yard and gardens. He also enjoyed shopping and had numerous collections.

Bob was known for his humor, generosity, and kindness. He especially enjoyed family time on the lake and during summer vacations in Rhode Island.

Bob was a member of the Elks Lodge BPOE-120 of Danbury for many years.

In addition to his wife of 55 years, Bob is survived by two daughters, Susan Hoddinott and her husband, Richard, of Danbury, and Pamela Fiengo and her husband, Daniel, of Bethel; two sisters, Joyce McConnell and Meredith Pollard and her husband, Joseph Prevost, all of Massachusetts; sister-in-law, Barbara Accurso, of Virginia; three grandsons, Richard and John Hoddinott, and Bob Fiengo; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers-in-law, Frank Accurso and Lewis McConnell.

The family would like to thank RVNA, Nuvance Health Outpatient Palliative Care, Hancock Hall, and Regional Hospice for the care that was provided during his illness.

The family will receive friends at the Jowdy-Kane Funeral Home, 9 Granville Avenue, Danbury, on Saturday, April 1, 2023, from 3 to 5 pm.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Bob’s memory may be made to St Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis TN 38105.
